Cut Flowers

Cut Flowers is a zine and viewing tool. Reacting to the use of flowers as symbols of both devotion and wealth, as methods of both celebration and social control, this zine can be used to reclaim a fancy, displayed bouquet for yourself. The zine highlights the endowed lobby flowers at the MET, Dutch paintings of extravagant tulips from the 1600s, and American still lives of the 1800s flaunting the same wealth and power through varietal blooms as prime targets for this reframing.
